About fifty years ago Gail's Mom hand made this bedspread / comforter with tiny to big different shaped cotton patches sewed on with tiny little stitches.
Gail asked what I would do if this belonged to me. I told Gail that I would take it home and put about 4" to 6" inches of tap water into my bath tub along with a little of the "Bird Cleaner" / "kitchen dish cleaner", Dawn. I would swish the water around a bit to mix up but not bubble up the cleaner. Then leave it alone only swishing it around every several hours or so. After a day or so I would drain out all of the water etc and refill the tub with the same amount of just plain water.
I would do this a couple or three times to let all the loosened up dirt fall out.
Then let it drip a while in the tub and then put it outside to dry out in the fresh air.
Today Gail came in and said, "it worked great", just like I said it would. So
Gail has now called her sister in Virginia and told her how to save some money, make sure nothing happens to her cherished Bed Spread and get it clean as new.
Gail is one happy lady.
